Child Protection Case Worker

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Child Protection Case Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with children and families in crisis, ensuring their safety, well-being, and access to essential services.

This role requires a compassionate approach, strong assessment skills, and a commitment to safeguarding children’s rights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct protection assessments in affected communities to identify vulnerabilities and protection risks, with a focus on children, women, and persons with special needs.
  • Provide immediate protection interventions, including psychosocial support, referral services, and case management for survivors of violence and those at risk.
  • Facilitate awareness-raising sessions on protection issues, including GBV, child protection, and rights of persons with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, NGOs, and community-based organizations to ensure coordinated responses to protection concerns.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, protection committees, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance the protection environment.
  • Monitor and document protection incidents, needs, and gaps, and prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support capacity-building activities for community members and partners on protection issues and safeguarding.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in line with organizational policies, international protection standards, and donor requirements.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • University degree or diploma in social work, psychology, human rights / social science or related field or 3 years of relevant experience, including in project management.
  • Good communication skills both oral & written in English & the local language in the assigned state / LGA of responsibility.
  • Minimum two year’s experience in child rights, child protection, social welfare, GBV / gender issues or in delivering/supporting delivery of community-based programs.
  • Excellent technical understanding of child protection and community-based approaches
  • Must be a resident or willing to relocate to the assigned state of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of the local area is essential.
  • Experience in child protection will be an added advantage.
  • Good facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently under difficult conditions.
